Why pyrolysis?
Pyrolysis of biomass is a process where organic material is heated in the absence of oxygen above 400°C, causing it to split into biochar and energy-rich vapours. The pyrolysis vapours enter a combustion chamber to deliver useful heat at high temperature (approx. 800°C).

Circular economy & waste reduction
SENECA is strictly committed to only use biomass residues without indirect land use change (iLUC) issues as feedstock for energy generation. The use of biomass residues enhances local rural economies, delivers valuable products (biochar) in a circular, climate friendly manner.

Flexible production of green heat
Pyrolysis offers an eco-friendly method for converting biomass into energy. The heat transfer media can be optimally adapted to the client´s needs for example through hot water, steam, hot air or thermal oil.

Carbon sequestration
Biochar produced through pyrolysis is a long-term stable carbon storage. The biochar produced by the selected SENECA pyrolysis technologies are proven to comply with the European Carbon Certificate (EBC) standards.

Steady revenue stream
Biochar can be used as soil amendment, fertiliser production, construction materials, among other commercial applications.
